Ghoulishly great birthday party idea – Monster Mini Golf Marietta

09/17/15 | Tips for Moms

Monster Mini Golf Marietta
A couple of weeks ago, my family got to experience a place called Monster Mini Golf over in Marietta, GA. We’d been talking about taking the kids out for a little putt putt (really it was more for us), but when I was asked to check out this place, I jumped at the opportunity.

Monster Mini Golf is an indoor monster-themed glow in the dark 18 hole miniature golf course that offers a host of fun activities at every turn – literally!  Each hole is completely different with a unique theme or surprise waiting at each one.  You might get some steam at one hole, then a pic with Beetlejuice at another, then an awesomely odd hole location at the next.  The entire course is decorated with scary, but cool monster decor and custom and animated props.  In addition to miniature golf, Monster Mini Golf has its own arcade game area, an in-house DJ, fun prizes for players, private event rooms and unusual gift shops!

kids birthday party idea - Monster Mini GolfWe all had a fun time and my little ones actually really enjoyed learning and playing miniature golf.  Although I have to admit, there were many times I wanted to scream, “That’s not how this works…That’s not how any of this works!”  Let’s just say they were making up their own rules of the game from time to time…

With that said, here’s my ideal, ordeal and real deal review of Monster Mini Golf Marietta:

The Ideal:

I titled this post based on the idea that it would make a really cool kids’ birthday party since that has been all my 6 y/o has talked about since, but really, I’d love to host my next party there too!   There are 2 private event rooms with all of the ghoulish decor and I swear it kinda felt like I was in a game of Clue.  If you’re looking for a party venue, this is definitely a fun and unique option.

The standard party packages include 1 hour

kids birthday party  and 30 minutes in the party room, followed by 18 holes of Monster Mini Golf.  This lets you do all of the actual birthday or party stuff (pizza, drinks, cake, presents, etc). Afterward, everyone gathers for Mini Golf and you may stay at Monster Golf for as long as you like.  Parties actually start at $75 for a weekday party options are available to rent the entire place out for a larger event like a Sweet 16.  For more information about their party packages, click here.

The Ordeal:

While it’s definitely not overly scary, it may take some getting used to for younger kids or kids that are easily frightened.  Plus, since the entire place is dark, I’d imagine that kids who are scared of the dark would not be too comfortable.  When we got to Monster Mini Golf, we happened to have awakened my 3 y/o from her nap, so we had a lot of things working against us.  She was already tired and cranky, then to walk into a dark room filled with monster decor was not her cup of tea at all! We started out bribing her with candy, but when even that didn’t work, we just gave her some time to warm up by taking her to play some arcade games for a while and that did the trick.   By the time we started our rounds of mini golf, she was fully acclimated to the environment and ended up having a great time.

Also, I honestly could’ve stayed much longer if they served food at this location.  There is a vending machine on premises, but we were starting to get pretty hungry after a while and we all hated to leave!

The Real Deal

In terms of family entertainment, this is such a refreshing and welcome break from the norm.   Like I mentioned before, my 6 y/o has actually been telling people that she’s having her next birthday party there – mind you, her birthday’s not til February, so I have to tell her to hold off on the invites for a while.   I think it would be a fun place to host a grown up event as well, perhaps a Halloween party or another event, so I’ll be looking into that as well.

In all, it made for some really fun family time that we all can remember and we’re looking forward to a trip back there. Even if you’re not a miniature golf enthusiast, the uniqueness of this place definitely makes it worth your while to check it out.

Monster Mini Golf Marietta is located at 2505 Chastain Meadows Pkwy. (Next to Walmart, & next door to the Dollar Tree) and they’re now open 7 days a week! For more information about Monster Mini Golf Marietta, visit their website at http://www.monsterminigolf.com/marietta/
