Health Benefits of Aloe Vera Juice
In my mother in-law’s house, aloe vera is one of those miracle drugs. She always has a nice supply of fresh aloe vera and when my kids get a touch of sunburn or an insect or mosquito bite, she simply snaps off a leaf and applies the juice to the source of trouble. The relief is almost instant, which is why many people call aloe vera ‘the miracle plant.’ Aloe vera can also be bought in juice form from health food shops, or there are recipes online to make your own juice from the plant itself.
So what exactly are the health benefits of aloe vera juice?
Digestion and stomach
Aloe vera juice can ease the symptoms of Chrohn’s Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). If you suffer from either of these and are considering treatment without medication, you may consider aloe vera juice. Aloe vera juice can also help to heal stomach ulcers and ease heartburn, acid reflux and constipation, as well as acting as a colon detoxifier. The recommended daily dose is 60 – 120mls.

Skin care
There are many aloe vera skin creams and lotions on the market, but drinking the juice can boost and repair elastin and collagen. Thus aloe vera juice provides an internal beauty treatment, by helping to combat the effects of aging on the skin. Drinking aloe vera juice can also help psoriasis sufferers, as it reduces itching. Juice from the plant can be applied directly to the skin of psoriasis and acne rosacea patients. Wash off after 15 – 20 minutes.
Immune system
Aloe vera juice fights infection and boosts the immune system. This, and its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties make it a useful natural product for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Lupus patients. Many people report easing of joint pain and inflammation after taking aloe vera juice. As always, consult a doctor beforehand.
Heart health
Aloe vera juice helps to boost the circulation and lower cholesterol. It also has stress relieving properties, and can help to lower blood pressure, thus helping to keep your heart healthy.
Oral health
Because of its antibacterial properties, aloe vera juice soothes and heals mouth ulcers and guards against tooth decay and gum disease.
Important: Side Effects of Aloe Vera Juice
As always, never try a new health regimen without first talking to a doctor or health practitioner. Overdosing on aloe vera juice could cause nausea, discoloration of the urine and liver problems. Always stick to the recommended amounts, as when used correctly, the benefits of taking aloe vera juice can certainly outweigh the side effects.
