Whether or not you’re a fan of college basketball, one of the most fantastic parts about March Madness is getting together with family and friends to join the celebration.
If you’re planning to throw a March Madness celebration this year, of course, I always suggest you find ways to make it fun and affordable at the same time. I was first introduced to the Flipp app a few years ago and still recommend it not only for your every day grocery run or big shopping event, but for all of your entertaining needs. From finding available coupons to navigating the stores and notifying you on offers to helping you track your shopping needs, Flipp is the ultimate budget tool for this year’s March madness celebration party. Here are five ways to have a March Madness celebration on budget with the help of this handy tool!
Go with budget decorations
Start by choosing the perfect color theme to decorate your home for the party, such as the colors of your favorite team. That’s when all of the fun and creativity starts. You can, of course go with all of the usual decorations – streamers, balloons, etc. – all of which you can usually snag from your local party store. However, how much more fun is it to decorate with your college jerseys, cheerleading pom poms, banners, etc. Either way, be sure to check your Flipp app for any sales on party supplies and/or college gear in your area!
By the way, if you have trouble deciding on a favorite team, please feel free to root for Virginia and decorate in orange and blue. ☺
Capitalize on making simple but great dishes for the crowd
For most bigger gatherings, I usually opt for things like stews and pasta dishes since they are inexpensive to prepare since they can be made in big batches. However, your March Madness party should be all about simple and great finger foods – wings, meatballs, chips and dip, etc.
With your Flipp app, you can make a shopping list of the snacks and finger foods you need and any time store updates its stock with a better offer, you will get the notification!
Consider buying in bulk
A lot of the party goods you’ll need will be better buying in bulk. Use your free Flipp app to shop for supplies even at warehouses such as Costco! You can always compare discounts, offers and bargains for these offers to make sure you’re getting the best deal.
Splurge on some cool electronics (or not)
If you must splurge on something, more than likely, it will be on electronics. You probably already have a nice flat screen tv to watch the games, but if you’re anything like my husband, you’ll want to consider enhancing your viewing experience with a sound bar, cool lighting, etc. There are likely to be some great sales going on this time on electronics, but a quick search on the Flipp App will help you compare and save.
Make it all a team effort
Last, but not least, make the entire March Madness Celebration a team effort – from decorations to food to party supplies and any fun extras you can think of. For example, if you are a gracious host/hostess, you can ask your guests to bring some themed decorations from their favorite college teams too. Additionally, making the event a
potluck an asking guests to bring a favorite game day food or beverage is a great way to reduce costs.
As the host/hostess, you can create a shopping list on Flipp app with all of the best deals you’ve come across and then you can invite other families to view the list as well, so they’ll know what’s still needed.
This time of year is always a fun time for college basketball fans and who doesn’t love a good party? But since breaking the bank is never fun, I definitely recommend shopping around, comparing deals and staying organized with the free Flipp App! Then, just have fun with your fellow fans and ummm…Go Virginia!
