Bucket List Check Off – Getting Slimed At Nickelodeon Slime City
Remember that popular Nickelodeon show, “You Can’t Do That On Television,” where every time someone said the words “I don’t know,” they get drenched in slime? Oh my goodness, you guys have no idea! My mom would watch it with me and totally squirmed at the slime downpour each time. Meanwhile, I’d be sitting there wishing like anything I could go on that show just for that slime experience! Like, I’d be that kid that would say I don’t know in every single scene just to get slimed!
So, fast forward I guess 30 years, I finally had that chance at Nickelodeon Slime City in Atlanta and you know what? It’s everything I dreamed it would be! Gooey, icky, messy, and among the most fun I’ve had as a grown up!
Now, this time, I had to take my daughters who, of course, have never seen the show or had that same bucket list anticipation I had. None of us truly knew what to expect and while I thought the slime thing would be the gist of the experience, Nickelodeon Slime City offered several more fun and memorable experiences we all loved and thoroughly enjoyed!

What families can expect at Nickelodeon Slime City
So, first and foremost, you have to visit NickSlimeCity.com to book your time slot for the Slime City Experience. That’s because you enter the venue with a group of people and it’s somewhat of a guided tour throughout the venue (although you’re not obligated to stay with the group the entire time). When you enter, you get a briefing of what to expect from the various rooms you’ll visit. They even add in a little find the letters game to keep the kids on their toes the whole time.
Each of the rooms are pretty unique and bring about some great photo opps and fun. Like, we got to feel the slime as it’s made, tag our names on a wall, check out at wall of slime fame and several more. As I shared, you don’t have to stay with your initial group and can spend as much time as you want in each room. This was a good thing for us because my girls were having such a blast in the Slime-tennial Park playground, they could’ve stayed there all day!

Getting slimed is totally optional (though I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t do it!). However, if you’re planning on doing it, here are some things to know before you go:
- Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Just a little. You do get a plastic poncho to wear during the experience, so your hair, shirt and basically upper 3 quarters of your body will be slime free. For this reason, I recommend shorts or pants you can roll up to your calves. After the experience, there are attendants who help you remove the poncho, but there is sometimes a little splashing as it’s being removed from the person in front of you. Especially if you have some kids who like to squirm a bit.
- Don’t worry about your shoes. You go into the experience barefoot, so your shoes don’t get slimed at all. You place them in a cubby and pick them up after clean up.
- Attendants are more than willing to take photos and/or videos of the experience. So if that’s a reason you think you’d want to skip the experience, it’s not.
