Style Box, Savings, and Social Good

The doorbell rings – it’s the delivery guy. He hands us a small to medium sized white box and I immediately know what it is. My oldest, Leila hovers over the box and as always, begins to question what is in the box and if it was for her. Now, 99% percent of the mail that comes to this house is NEVER hers, but this time, she gets the answer she’s been waiting for…“Yes, Leila. Your clothes from Kidbox have arrived!”

She was filled with excitement due to the sheer mystery of it all, coupled with the fact that she was deliberately leaving space in her suitcase for our Orlando trip just for her new summer threads. She opens up the box just like she’s unwrapping a present and…score! She’s happy. I’m happy. We have some new summer clothes. And I didn’t have to see the inside of a mall. That’s what I call Unpacking Happiness!

Style box…

I recently learned about a brand new style delivery service appropriately called KidBox. Kidbox is the first kids’ style box that combines cool brands, meaningful savings and a mission to clothe children in need. Here’s how it works in a nutshell:

When you log on to Kidbox.com, they’ll ask you a series of questions – first the basics about your child’s age and sizes.  Then, it’s the fun part – discovering your child’s personal style – what makes them unique, what are their favorite colors, items to avoid (i.e. short skirts), stores you currently shop for your child, etc.  

From that info, they will customize a style box with 6-7 items just for your child and ship it to you for free! Yes, it’s that simple! They won’t even charge your card at that time.

We had an interesting time deciding on Leila’s personal style because, like her mom, she is many things.  I actually let her fill out that section on her own  and the package we got in the mail was pretty spot on to Leila’s style.  I don’t know how they did it, but it was great.   I can’t remember the actual mix she chose, but we received our style box filled with the following:

Savings…

Once you get your package, you have 7 days to decide which of the items you want to keep, replace, or return. If you keep the entire box, it’s $98. If not, you only pay for the portion you decide to keep.

All of the items were high quality, brand name items and the savings off the ticket price were pretty substantial.  A little known fact – the guys who started Kidbox are also very integral parts of the movement that brought brands like Vera Wang into Target stores.  So, yes – they definitely know a thing or two about style and savings!  

As a busy mom who really does not shopping very much, the sheer convenience of it all also makes it a huge value for me.  I also assess value on how well put to use the items become and I can tell you, Leila has alternated between her new shorts and that black, white and green dress pretty much every day since she got them to the point where you would wonder whether or not she has other clothes. I said all that to say…get used to seeing them on my Facebook and Instagram pages.  

Social Good…

I mentioned earlier that Kidbox also has a mission to clothe children in need. Well, another reason I fell in love with this company was that they also run the non-profit organization called Kidbox Cares.

Kidbox Cares is a partnership with K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers – the largest nonprofit in fashion – to donate clothing to needy kids. With each style box purchased through Kidbox, they will donate a style box to a child in need. I just absolutely love that they are actively working to empower children to give and be socially responsible and that through Kidbox Cares, parents are able to share with their kids the awesome experience of getting and giving new clothes to other children.
