33 Crazy Holidays in October You’ve Probably Never Heard Of

10/01/16 | Archives

Can you all believe it’s October already?  We usually think of October as being the start of the holiday season, but oddly enough, October actually has quite a few holidays during this month alone, albeit some really wacky ones!  We know about Columbus Day and Halloween of course, but, here are just a few crazy holidays this month you’d be amazed even existed!

33 Crazy Holidays You’ve Probably Never Heard Of

October marks the start of the holiday season, but also has many wacky and crazy holidays you've probably never heard of - National Bologna Day, National Noodle Day, National Candy Corn Day, just to name a few. Check out all of these crazy October Holidays here!

Chic Spy Day (October 5)

If you consider yourself on the chic side and can’t get enough of spy movies, Chic Spy Day is definitely right up your alley. It’s celebrated on October 5, to commemorate the London debut of the first James Bond movie in 1962.

There are scads of ways to celebrate this holiday. Don your trench coat, leather gloves and over-sized sunglasses and go out on the town in your covert disguise. Remember to take a few selfies to share with your friends.

If you prefer to stay home with the kids, pop some popcorn and put your favorite beverages on ice. Have a James Bond or Mission Impossible movie marathon. It’s a great time to practice your British accent. You never know when it might come in handy!

National Bologna Day (October 24)

Who doesn’t love bologna? Isn’t it cool that this meat, which is technically an American sausage, has its own day of recognition? Break out the white bread and the mustard, to celebrate this holiday in style. Get even crazier and fry a few slices for an even yummier, up-scale, sandwich alternative.

Depending on what part of the country you reside in, you may or may not refer to bologna as “jumbo.” And, talk about popular! Not surprisingly, 800 million pounds of this lunch meat gets consumed (annually) in the U.S. alone. Get ready… get set… eat!

Haunted Refrigerator Night (October 30)

This crazy October holiday doesn’t have anything to do with ghosts or goblins. But, it does have something to do with the evil that lurks in your fridge. You know… the now fuzzy science experiments that were once considered part of breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Haunted Refrigerator Night isn’t an official holiday… yet! It is the brainchild of Thomas and Ruth Roy, who have been fascinated with off-the-wall holidays since the inception of their website, Wellcat Holidays.

The Roy’s suggest that if you don’t feel like carving a Jack o’ Lantern or watching a scary movie, take the plunge and clean out your refrigerator instead Think of the fun you’ll have. Just kidding! But, the good news is that your fridge will be clean. So, you’ll have more room to store all of your extra Halloween treats. Caramel apples, anyone?

These are just three crazy October holidays. Believe it or not, there’s a weird and wacky food holiday every day of the month. Check these out below:
