4 Creative Baby Shower Gift Ideas That Are Always A Hit

At the last baby shower I attended, I overheard someone say, “I never buy items off of a registry.” I was a little taken aback by that statement simply because, well let’s face it, if it’s on the registry, it’s precisely what they want or need. At the same time, there are times when you want to go a little bit against the grain and give something just a little more unique and creative than the standard bottle sterilizer, while still giving a gift they will be able to put to good use.

Here are some creative baby shower gift ideas moms-to-be will love and put to good use.

Diaper Cake

A diaper cake is always a welcome gift! You can purchase the cake or make one yourself. At my baby shower, my mom actually made me a diaper cake which people kept mistaking for a real cake! All you need is typical baby supplies and rolled up diapers. You can fill the center of the cake with things like burp cloths, bibs, receiving blankets, diaper rash ointment, etc. and line the outside with the diapers. Clothing in a Variety of Sizes (and Seasons)

I remember having such a great variety of clothing sizes for my little ones to last them until they were about 2 years old! Of course, babies grow fast, so buying clothing in a variety of sizes helps take some of the expense off the expecting mother. However you get the most cool points at a baby shower if you can also keep the seasons in mind. Nothing is worse than having a bunch of cute summer dresses in your baby’s size during the winter. My kids were both born in February, for example, so winter clothes, jackets, sweaters, etc. were so appreciated in sizes 0-3 months and then again at 12 months.

Food and Restaurant Gift Cards

If you’re not sure what to buy, gift cards are always a great option. Gift cards to stores that carry baby supplies are always the obvious option, but don’t overlook gift cards to places like grocery stores, restaurants, food delivery services, etc., where new parents can get other essentials they’ll need particularly to get them through those sleepless nights and days.

Last, but not least, why not create a gift basket for the mother and baby? Include items that she’ll need throughout her pregnancy such as pregnancy and parenting books, foot soak, lavender scented body wash, etc. For the baby, sky’s the limit! Bottles, bibs, baby lotion, and whatever other tidbits you’d like to present to the mom to be.
