11 daily habits for your mind, body and spirit

01/17/17 | Green Living & Holistic Health

I started off 2017 with a very clear mission –to make some very conscious changes to improve my mind, body and spirit in the New Year. For me, it starts off with a 21 day commitment to incorporate these changes with the mindset that it takes 21 days to form a habit.

Looking to make a change in the New Year? Instead of resolutions, start implementing these 11 daily habits to help improve your mind, body and spirit.

You’ll be hearing much more about these in the upcoming weeks/months/etc., but in the meantime, here are 11 habits you can start today for your mind, body and spirit.

Practice gratitude daily

Did you accomplish something good at work? Did your husband wash the dishes without you having to ask? Did you enjoy a great cup of coffee? We all have bad days sometimes, but the most replenishing habit we can develop is to rejoice in the good things that are happening. Remember my 365 days of thanks challenge a few years ago? It’s never a bad idea to start that up again. Whether you document it or not, just take a moment each day to acknowledge the good things.

Being in the present moment

This is a big one for me and just being honest, my blogging career does not make this easy in the least. This is such an important habit to develop even for one special experience per day. Notice things around you like colors, sights, smells sounds, expressions on people’s faces, etc.

Have Quiet Moments Each Day

I know this is hard, especially if you have little noisy ones, but take two minutes each day, but be intentional about your quiet time even if you have to sit in your car for two minutes and just practice stillness.

Yoga and exercise are excellent ways to replenish the mind, body and spirit.

Smile and laugh

Find something funny about each and every day even if it’s the fact that nothing seems to be working according to plan. Here’s a tip: Smile at someone and let them smile back at you.

One act of loving kindness to self daily

Be gentle and kind to yourself every day. It could be a simple act of wrapping your arms around yourself or a kind word of encouragement to self.

Pick at least one specific, and deliberate way to nourish your body, mind and spirit daily

Choose a category of either body, mind, and spirit and nourish yourself one way in that area daily.

Learn how to prioritize your time

There are going to be days when we simply cannot do everything – both for ourselves and for others.  Learn how to say no. Learn how to delegate. Learn how to prioritize the things that are most important to spend your time with.

Commit to one act of loving kindness to someone else daily

Even if you are not in the best of moods, your mind, body, and spirit will be impacted greatly when you provide one act of kindness daily. It will lift your mood and your spirits, and theirs, too.

Practice passion

Take one small action step toward something you are passionate about every day.  This can simply mean you write in a journal or even creating a business plan for a new business idea.  It may even mean making that phone call to learn that musical instrument you’ve always wanted to learn. Whatever you have passion about, it’s time to get up and jump up for joy and practice passion daily.

Travel Vacation RentalsGet It Here

One of my biggest passions has always been travel. In my 20’s, I made a promise to myself that with every break, I would travel to someplace I’d never been before. That promise led me to places as amazing as Egypt & India, to name a few.

For help finding discount hotels, resorts and searching for the best air fares, TripAdvisor is a great place to start.

TripAdvisor offers advice from millions of travelers and a wide variety of travel choices and planning features with seamless links to booking tools that check hundreds of websites to find great hotel prices.  Check out their current hotel and flight deals HERE.

Connect with others in relationship

Take time out of your busy schedule to simply acknowledge someone daily. Instead of waiting for someone to reach out to you, make the first step and reach out to them.

Practice the art of momentum

Finally, take on the practice of momentum daily by taking on being enthusiastic. Be enthusiastic even when you have to pull from deep down. It will eventually become a habit.

When you take on the practice of these 11 habits, don’t be surprised if you notice new habits forming easily and eventually becoming second-nature. Can you think of some more habits for your mind, body and spirit?
