Last week I introduced you guys to the Ride and Drive experience and what to expect if you ever had the chance to come across one of these. I mentioned that you’ll likely be seeing these pop up in your respective cities soon and I’m happy to share that Kia has officially partnered with LakePoint to bring these events to the Atlanta travel sports communities!
LakePoint Center in Cartersville, GA is on track to become one of the largest and most unique destinations for travel sports. A few weeks ago, I attended a National Cheerleading competition and this past week, it was the destination for both the Spring Into Summer Beach Volleyball Tournament as well as a Basketball Tournament in the Lakepoint arena.
Why this is a major win for the travel sports community and guests at LakePoint:
A welcome break from the norm
Parents of competitive athletes all know what it’s like at these events – lots of waiting around and down time as you wait for your team’s turn to play, in addition to some tension and stress usually. The Kia Ride and Drive booths offer an opportunity for guests to not only relax and recharge (literally recharge your phones, ipads, etc), but also a chance to experience the exhilaration of slipping behind a brand new set of wheels and taking a ride around the neighborhood. Whether you’re a car aficionado or not, you get a chance to experience one of the brand new Kia vehicles in a non-salesy environment.
All of the latest Kia vehicles are present for these Ride and Drive event and as long as you have a valid driver’s licence (and pass the breathalyzer), you can find behind the wheel of the car or cars you want. The super friendly Kia representatives are also there to give you a walk through of all of the latest features on the vehicles and answer any questions you have.
Oh yeah, and a little incentive never hurts either. This past weekend, they were giving out a free gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods, but this changes with each event.

Again, there are several Ride and Drive events happening all around the country, but if you’re in the Atlanta area or taking part in an upcoming event at LakePoint, be sure to look out for the Kia booth for the ultimate ride and drive experience! I’ve never had the chance to drive a Kia but I’m super tempted to try their hybrid, it’s such a cool car! Thanks for the heads up, I have to find a Ride and Drive near me so I can try it out.
I love to try new cars but I hate it when you have to deal with sales guys they try to shove a car up my throat… This sounds like the perfect mix, even more so as you have the chance to get more details about the car.
I love Kias, my aunt has a cool one, don’t remember the model right now, but it’s small and chic and super easy to ride. Kia is honestly underestimated, even more so when you think how affordable these cars are.
They are extremely affordable and a really great value. We own an Optima and love it!
Did it already and yes, these guys are super helpful, they don’t push you around and offer a ton of helpful advices. I have to admit I went there just to try their cars, I don’t need to buy one right now.
That hamster is so darn cute, their commercials are always funny and memorable. Other than that, the Ride and Drive event should be a permanent event. I’m sure a lot of people would attend these events since there’s no strings attached.
That would be a fun idea!
The breathalyzer part made me chuckle but yeah, quick thinking from their part. I’ve owned a second-hand Kia in college that suddenly died while I was driving home from work but I’ll love to try a newer model soon.
I chuckled taking it too, only because I’ve never done that before. You will LOVE their newer models though. Kia has really stepped up their game in the past few years!
Can you do this with friends? It would be so cool if I could have my friend along, I’ve tried some cars but I just can’t make up my mind…. I’m a sucker for new technologies and gizmos but sometimes all these are just for show…
Thanks for the heads up on the breathalyzer, I’ve been incident-free so far #KeepingMyFingersCrossed so I never had to use one. Let’s hope there’s a Ride and Drive event near me, hubby will love to try a new car.
I think the breathalyzer at this event might be just in case there were some folks out there celebrating a little too much.
A free drive and some freebies, where do I sign up? I still don’t have a driver’s license but a girl can dream, right? Kia is way more within my budget than other cars I dream of so I need to go to one of these events asap.
Do you happen to know if this is available for other car manufacturers as well? I hate it when I have to listen to the same sales pitch over and over, those guys are super pushy and annoying.
I’m not really sure. I’m sure there are other manufacturers that do them at particular events or auto shows.
