Raising positive and kind kids…one colorful step at a time!

06/30/17 | Tips for Moms

My kids had been at their grandma’s house for the better part of the summer and I was so excited to give them all of the fun gifts I’d collected for them over the past few weeks.  It’s no secret that my kids love getting new clothes, shoes, accessories, etc., so I just knew they would absolutely love the pair of tennis shoes that were sent to them by a company called SUNS Shoes.  Even without them knowing anything about the shoes or the brand, they were already pretty happy. They loved the fit and style of the shoes, were able to do a few hops around the house and remarked on how comfortable they were, and they especially loved the fun stickers that accompanied them in the box.  They were a just a little curious, however,  about the reason behind the mini light that also came with them…

Then we walked outside and the screaming began! I'm especially happy to support SUNS Shoes for their incredible mission to make positive and kind kids that will initiate good traits in the world.

See, earlier this summer, I was approached by and jumped at the opportunity to work with a fairly new company called Suns Shoes.  Suns Shoes is a truly unique brand of footwear for women and kids, with shoes made of an innovative material that comes to life with vibrant color and hidden surprises when exposed to the sunlight!  The second we walked outside, the kids immediately noticed that their shoes changed colors.  Leila’s shoe started off white with a purple stripe and then changed to pink in the sunlight.  Samara’s was a white sort of sequenced shoe and the sunlight brings little stars around the shoes. Can I just tell you – I haven’t been able to get them to wear anything else for days!

I even got a pair myself and I have to say, these are pretty cool and comfortable too. I mean, who says the kids get to have all of the fun?

Aside from being just an awesome concept and shoe, one of the reasons I’m especially happy to support SUNS Shoes is their incredible mission to spread positivity through a program based around being kind to one another.  The company was founded by a group of parents who witnessed first hand the detrimental impact that bullying, negativity, and violence can have on kids and families. In turn, 2 of their daughters began this kindness initiative at their school.   The theory is that if we all make an effort to be nicer to each other, through our everyday acts of kindness (AOKs) the outcome has a ripple effect of spreading smiles! After all, life isn’t about ignoring problems, but instead doing the little things that everyone can to help us get through those cloudy days and making our world brighter every day.

The best part of it all is that even if you don’t already own a pair of SUNS Shoes, you are still welcome to join the initiative and spread some positivity in your world and community. Whenever and wherever you perform an AOK, simply share your story and spread that kindness via the hashtags #aokSUNS #BKandSO  (Be Kind & Shine On)!

Here’s a FREE Printable you can share with your little ones to help them keep track of all of the kind acts they do in their homes, schools, and communities!  I’d love it if you could come back to this post in a few weeks and share some of the awesome ideas your kids come up with!!!

Lastly, I forgot to mention that the mini light that came with the shoes would also force the shoe to change colors.  Once my girls discovered that, they found other ways to use it…

What an absolutely fun design for shoes. My daughter would have totally loved these when she was small. Actually, she would probably fall in love with them now as well. It is amazing to hear of a company doing good while they simultaneously do business. What an awesome concept.

These shoes are too cool! I haven’t seen anything like those before…pretty sure my kids wouldn’t want to take them off either 😉 I agree with you, love the fact that they have an initiative for helping others do good (AOKs). Thank you for the free printable chart! So need something like that for my kids 🙂

Their AOK campaign sounds wonderful. It’s great when companies get involved in upliftment projects.

These shoes are so fun and colorful! I love the classic sneaker look. I wore a pair very similar during our 4th of July trip 🙂
