Don’t get me wrong. I love being a work-at-home mom and most of my “WAHM” friends would agree. However, there are some elements that are pretty easy to miss from working in traditional office space. Things like office birthday parties, water cooler gossip, and most of all, a mid-day coffee break! For me, that was my time to unplug from a busy work day and recharge my body and brain to be able to complete my work day successfully.
This mid-day break is just as important when you work from home and let’s face it, breaks are usually hard to come by unless you plan it out. So why not do just that? How about getting some other WAHM friends together for a mid-day coffee break “party” once in a while? Here are some tips to get you started:
Tip #1. Host a Mid-Day Coffee Break Party just before the kids get home from school
The point of a mid-day coffee break is to both give you a chance to step away from your work and to give you that second wind to finish your day with a bang. For most moms of school aged kids, a second wind is most needed just before they get home from school and you’re getting ready to basically start your “second job.”
Tip #2. Have all of your guests “unplug”
Phones, tablets, laptops are not welcome. This is some time to literally step away from your desks and enjoy a break. To give your guests an added incentive to leave their devices at the door, set up a charging station by the door.
Tip #3. Serve some energy boosting snacks
Things like nuts, granola, yogurt, and fruits are the perfect addition to give that extra boost.
But don’t forget to cater to your guests’ sweet tooth either!
Tip #4. Share some fun “brain games” and stress relievers with your guests, such as a rubik’s cube, stress balls, etc.
Tip #5. Serve good coffee
Last, but certainly not least we have the focal point of the entire party – coffee! Starbucks® Caffé Latte K-Cup® pods are a delicious and convenient addition to any coffee break. They are made from milk with no artificial flavors and they come in 3 great Starbucks® signature flavors – Caramel, Mocha, and Vanilla – for your guests to select their favorites. If you’re throwing your party during the holiday season, you can also bring to the table 2 of the most beloved Starbucks® seasonal flavors -Pumpkin Spice and Peppermint Mocha (available for a limited time).
Making a soothing and tasty coffee beverage is simple and your guests can easily create their own in 2 steps:
1. Pour the flavor packet into the mug.
2. Brew the Starbucks® Caffé Blend K-Cup® pod in a Keurig® brewer, stir and enjoy!

Oh I love the idea of having this party right before kids get home. That is always the time of day when my mental state needs a 2nd wind from working all day and before I face the whirlwind the kids will bring home! -client
This makes me want a coffee, at 5pm. All looks so good.
What beautiful pictures… you really make the coffee look so enjoyable. I wish I liked sweet coffee ☕️…. I’m such a plain drinker. Great article over all!
Oo yes please. All the food looks amazing.
That’s an amazing idea and if you’re planning to invite mom friends over, it’s a great way to give yourselves a break from the usual routine and just enjoy some good cup of joe! I really like these new products from starbucks for the fall.
What a neat idea for those that work at home! I love me some at home Starbucks, such a perfect touch to the mid day coffee break party!
Oh, the glory of coffee breaks. I live for those breaks during college. Even tho I’m not a big coffee drinker on a “normal day”, I turn into a coffee junkie while at college… It’s insane…
Yes this would be great for a pick me up in the middle of the day! I need to try this!
I can’t turn down a good coffee! That’s awesome and it would be nice to invite girlfriends and just catch up! It’s been a long time since I’ve done something like this.
