Earlier this year, I joined Kia Motors America at the New York International Auto Show to check out a plethora of vehicles coming out in 2017. Those of you who really know me know I’m not the biggest car buff, but I do enjoy looking at and playing with cool things and the NYIAS did not disappoint. Of course, I got a huge kick out of seeing some of the luxury and high end gadgets coming out on the market, and yes, definitely putting these on my bucket list!
However, until I get that Mazeratti disposable cash, I’m all for affordability, safety, comfort and style for the crazy amount of driving I do on a day to day basis. With that said, here are 3 great options I learned about from Kia’s 2018 line:
Kia Rio
The Rio has always been a huge hit overseas and is a great car for either a young adult or a small family. I could totally see this being Leila or Samara’s first car and as a parent, even beyond the cuteness, safety is always a huge issue. The new Rio introduces standard, along with advanced safety features that you don’t want to miss. It actually gets a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The five-door hatchback is roomier than ever before. Among other things, this means more head-room, leg-room and cargo space. A six-speaker stereo system (with satellite radio), a rear-view touchscreen camera and Apple CarPlay, which is basically dashboard iOS, are some of the available options. Let the fun begin!
Kia Niro Plug In
I’ve been driving a Kia Niro for several months now and it is easily one of my favorite cars ever. I’ve almost been a little too spoiled by the hybid lifestyle. According to Kia Motors, the Niro Electric was created using an “un-hybrid” design that you’re sure to love. It totally has a more modern look! One thing is for certain, you’ll never get hungry or thirsty in the Niro. There’s approximately 15 different places to accommodate your drinks and snacks.
As far as fuel efficiency is concerned, expect somewhere in the area of 50 miles per gallon combined. This means lower fuel costs and more money to spend on family fun.
Kia Stinger
One of the most innovative safety features of the 2018 Kia Stinger is the company’s new “Driver Attention Alert,” which helps to successfully reduce injuries caused by driving while drowsy. How cool is that?
The premium audio system is beyond stellar. Even the standard system gets praise. Speaking of standard features, Bluetooth hands-free operation and a center-console cell phone charger also made the cut.
