One of the major highlights of this summer for me was being able to celebrate one of my childhood best friends (Michelle) as she got to marry the love of her life! As I’ve shared before, I have had the same 3 best friends since Junior High School and we got to serve as her Matrons of Honor. While this, of course, came with many important duties, I have to admit, planning her bachelorette party weekend in Savannah, GA was one I truly looked forward to!
Not only was this going to be the 1st time in 7 years that the 4 of us were going to be together again since our 4th member moved to Australia, but we were also going to be joined with some of the other amazingly fun women in Michelle’s bridal party and there was no way this weekend could not be epic! Since we were determined to give her a send-off just as fantastic as the ones she’d given to us over the years, we took some extra special care in planning the ultimate Savannah bachelorette party weekend for our girl!
First and foremost, we put a lot of time in making sure we had all of the supplies we’d need for a great party. From hours and hours of time shopping for party supplies and even DIYing some of the decorations and small touches that make the party great. Then, just as we were walking out the door, I got the package I’d been waiting for! Bota Box sent me a huge package of their latest boxed wine collection – from Pinot Grigio to Cabernet Sauvignon – and I knew we had everything we needed to make for an unforgettable bachelorette party weekend!
Here are some tips I can share with you guys about how to plan a bachelorette party weekend that’s guaranteed to be fun and memorable for all!
1. Start Planning Early
Don’t wait until the last minute to plan the weekend festivities. If possible, give yourself at least three months. This gives you plenty of time to research, make reservations, etc. This is especially important for a destination Bachelorette Party where you have to also make sure to secure a flight, a hotel or other lodging.
2. Keep It Intimate
Does the bride have lots of friends? My friend surely did, so the idea of a “small” was out of the question. Keeping it intimate, however, was important. We made sure to include only her closest and dearest friends to share in this occasion. I pretty much knew of the girls that would be joining us, but we also made a point to connect everyone on WhatsApp so that the girls could sort of get to know each other beforehand as well. That cuts out on the need for excessive ice-breakers and allows everyone to feel comfortable with each other from the beginning.
Another option, in the event that the party gets too large, you may want to consider having two separate parties. For example, a smaller getaway weekend with 6 to 10 guests and then a larger (informal) gathering closer to the big day.
3. Plan a Tentative Schedule
There are scads of great activities to take part in on a bachelorette party weekend. This includes things like visiting a spa, group lunches/dinners, scavenger hunts, shopping, going to the beach… the possibilities are almost endless. For our Savannah Bachelorette Party, we included the following:
- First day: Visit to Club One for the famous Drag Show
- Second day: Group lunch at Paula Deen’s Lady and Sons Restaurant, followed by some fun and games in the hotel room and a night out on the town.
- Third day: Day trip to Tybee Island Beach (which is only about 25 minutes from Savannah)
After the schedule is in place, e-mail all of the guests to give them a heads up. Consider including information such as what to bring, directions for out-of-towners and what portion of the cost is due, if everyone is chipping in.
4. Pack Photo Props
What’s a bachelorette party weekend without tons of photos to remember it by? Pack a bunch of fun photo props and let the selfies begin! We created our own little photo booth for the hotel room with a backdrop we bought from Amazon and made our own super fun photo booth props like these hilarious bachelorette party mugshots…
5. Put Together a Playlist
Seriously, what’s a party without music? Take the time to put together a playlist to commemorate the weekend. There are hundreds of appropriate songs to choose from.
6. Don’t Skimp on the Wine!
Throughout the entire weekend, our Bota Box Wine Collection was the perfect accessory!
