Rincon, Puerto Rico Hotels: Blue Boy Inn Bed And Breakfast Review

06/21/17 | Travel

If you’re looking for places to stay in Rincon, Puerto Rico, one thing you should know is that there aren’t any “chain” hotels in the area as you would find on other parts of the island.  I was happy to be hosted by the Blue Boy Inn during my recent trip to Rincon and am convinced that this has got to be the most beautiful Bed and Breakfast on the island of Puerto Rico! With all of the charm you’d expect from Bed and Breakfast, Blue Boy Inn offers all of the amenities and offerings of a top notch Resort and then some.

Traveling to The Blue Boy Inn Rincon

If you’ve never traveled to Rincon, you should know that there are a couple of options for getting to the city. You may fly into Aguadilla Airport which is about 30-45 minutes from Rincon, or to San Juan, which is about a 2 and a half drive. For our trip, we flew into San Juan for the first night and then made the drive to Rincon in the morning, straight to the Inn.

We were greeted at the door by Karen and Wes Clark, the owners of the Blue Boy Inn, and enjoyed a conversation with them about things to do in Rincon, local markets to shop in, etc. Karen and I were actually in communication even prior to my visit, as she was so kind as to have sent me several important tools to help me navigate my way to Rincon, including a detailed map of the island, driving directions, and recommendations for restaurants to stop at on the way. As I learned upon meeting them, Karen and Wes are both originally from {the traditional} US and made the decision to move to Rincon after just one visit to this beautiful city, left their corporate jobs and elected the calm and peaceful life Rincon offers. I must say, after spending just a few days there, I totally get it!

Blue Boy Inn Amenities

Wes provided us with a tour of the Blue Boy Inn and we were immediately blown away! My husband pretty much summed up our overall sentiment with, “Wow, they’ve thought of everything!” He was right. The Blue Boy Inn offers everything you can imagine to truly make you feel at home. Now, there are the things you would expect from any nice hotel in the area: gorgeous pool, hot tub, pool/beach towels and chairs, free wifi, etc. Then there are the amenities that set them apart from the rest, such as:

  • Outside kitchen and Gas Grill (with BBQ Sets)
  • Fire Pit
  • Snorkeling gear (snorkels, masks, and fins)
  • A community bar area (it’s sort of a pay it forward system – you take what you like and leave what you can’t take on the plane for the next guest)
  • Coolers to take with you to the beach
  • First Aid kits, mosquito repellent, sunscreen and anything else you might need are available at the front desk.
  • Recycling bin. And finally,
  • Some great old school board games to play during any downtime. I love a good game of CLUE!

Things are all on the honor system and they trust their guests to maintain and care for these amenities during their stay.

I also have to mention, the Blue Boy Inn has a beautiful outdoor garden on the property. I have to admit, I missed my girls’ faces tremendously, as I know they would’ve loved seeing the turtles, tortoises and others roaming about in the garden. Another huge plus we learned is that all of the fresh water in the garden is either treated or contain fish, so they do not draw mosquitoes.

Rooms at Blue Boy Inn

Review Blue Boy Inn Bed and Breakfast Rincon Puerto Rico

The Blue Boy Inn features 8 rooms total, each offering their own unique advantages. There are rooms directly poolside, some near the garden, etc. The room we stayed in was a perfect size; complete with a king size bed, 2 cabana chairs, full bathroom with a tub, refrigerator and an outdoor patio. The property is large enough so that the rooms are well spaced out and private.

Here’s a very accurate virtual tour of the rooms at Blue Boy Inn:  Blue Boy Inn Virtual Tour

The Breakfast at Blue Boy Inn

Of course! What’s a Bed and Breakfast, without the breakfast part, right? A full breakfast is served at Blue Boy Inn daily from 8-10am.   When you arrive at breakfast, she’ll give you a few options to choose from and meals are made to order.   I can tell you – the French Toast is a must!

A few rules of the Blue Boy Inn

Review Blue Boy Inn Bed and Breakfast Rincon Puerto Rico

If you’re planning a stay at the Blue Boy Inn, there are a few things you should know ahead of time.  First, there are no children under the age of 12 are allowed. In other words, it’s a great place to stay with your significant other or a girls’ (or guys’) getaway, but not for a family trip with the little ones.  The owners are a little lenient on this rule if you are renting out the entire Inn for, say, a family reunion or wedding party stay.  I’d be lying if I said this was not a major plus for my couples trip! ðŸ™‚

They also have a firm no visitor policy to ensure the privacy and safety of everyone in the house. Facilities are only available for registered guests.

Lastly, there is no smoking allowed on the property.  Clean air everywhere!

Hi, for people wanting to visit Puerto Rico with little kids I share this important information. I rent baby/toddler gear in Puerto Rico, such as car seats, booster seats, full size cribs, pack’n plays, strollers, bath tubs, high chairs, and more. My business serves traveling families, people with visiting family members, like grandparents with visiting grandchildren, people that need temporary equipment to adopt an infant or toddler, events like weddings, company picnics or any other reunion that needs to have areas for little kids and/or babies, and even people that want to try a particular equipment before deciding to buy! All the gear is insured and registered in case of recalls.

[…] phenomenal. It’s a beautiful property equipped with 8 rooms, a large pool, hot tub, lounge areas, outdoor grill, fire pit, and some beautiful tropical gardens in site. I describe it as having all the charm of a Bed and Breakfast with the amenities of a luxury resort. It’s literally just a 2 minute walk to the beach and a few local bars and restaurants. The Innkeepers were very warm and personable and incredibly helpful in guiding us around town. Blue Boy Inn is Rincon’s top-rated B&B/Inn on TripAdvisor, and we are definitely a place for romance and peaceful relaxation. Check out my full review of the Blue Boy Inn. […]
