Here my daughter stands in her perfect little world, as part of a perfect little unit consisting of Mommy, Daddy, and her. Now, here comes this new person set to infiltrate her perfect little unit and life. Now, to add insult to injury, my little girl can’t even just have a birthday to herself?
I know tons of people who insist that this cute…and convenient for me being able to have 2 birthday parties at once, but seriously, how many kids really want that? I was a pretty selfish kid growing up myself and I know I would’ve hated it.
I’ve spent the last few days feeling having a pity party and I think I’ve come up with a pretty fun solution:
1. Pray that they don’t come on the same exact day!
2. Come up with what we’ll call “Birthday Week.” Since it’s likely that they will at least have birthdays within the same 7 day span, we can give them that entire week to celebrate together! They’ll get to team up and eat what they want, watch what they want, do what they want (within reason) for that entire week. On each individual birthday, we’ll still make it special for them, but at least this gives them a reason to appreciate the shared birthday time.
Problem solved? Let’s hope so!
